Effortless White Dogwood Wedding Inspiration at The Corson Building

As I am working on ideas for a ‘2020 Floral Trends’ blog post, I keep coming back to this late spring dogwood wedding editorial at The Corson Building in Seattle. Single varietal floral designs, also called monobotanical, or in layman terms, ‘one flower’ designs, have been slowly growing in popularity, and have the power to simply and cleanly create a striking design.

For this editorial, Callista and I wanted to keep the design feeling fresh and contemporary, and definitely uncluttered. Using only a single type of flower en masse, in this case blooming dogwood branches, we created an unfussy yet dramatic design, one that complemented the other design elements without overwhelming them.

We started with a simple all dogwood bridal bouquet, which popped beautifully from Alexandra Grecco’s Cohen gown: a sleek, strapless sheath with a soft cape that fluttered behind like a soft shadow. Poking out from beneath the dress, Angelika wore fashion forward lace booties.

For the ceremony in the Corson Building garden, we built a statement ceremony arch, seemingly growing with dogwood branches in an asymmetric design. We lined the aisle with dogwood arrangements to build to the arch.

Dinner for an intimate group of guests was set under a grapevine covered terrace with glass lanterns hanging overhead. Long tables were adorned with wide stripped navy and white linens, modern matte ceramic plates, clean glassware, wood-handled flatware, and beeswax candles in simple glass votive holders.

Two last notes about this design: first, we’d very much love to create something like this for a 2020 couple - if it speaks to you, please get in touch! And second, we love The Corson Building and would love to work there more often!

Thank you to the incredible team that helped create this editorial at The Corson Building:
